Scientists describe the benefits of green spaces to mental health
Scientists are now able to prove that there are huge benefits to being outdoors in greenspaces such as parks!
These benefits include:
- Decreases depression, anxiety and lifts mood
- Improve sleep and reduce stress and increase happiness
- Improves interactions with our friends and family and reduces loneliness
- Exercise such as walking, skating or cycling improves health and wellbeing
What a great find! With this new scientific knowledge, we can now ask people who plan cities and build homes to ensure that we all get the benefits of green spaces close to our homes.
But there is something else which can take advantage of this and that is NATURE! With more green spaces, there will be more space for animals, plants and less air pollution. Rewilding out cities is something that is here to stay and with increased biodiversity, you will find that humans get better access to shelter, water, food, energy and cleaner living.
