Rosie

Writer and Friend of the Earth

Rosie is incredibly passionate about our planet, particularly about the vast array of life on earth. She adores animals so much she has even adopted a panda from WWF.

“My grandma and grandpa bought it for my birthday, my favourite animal is a tiger, and my second favourite is a red panda … From WWF I got facts about the panda and a little cuddly toy. Every quarter of the year I get a magazine”.

Rosie has only been learning for a couple of months, but is already a talented horse rider. She recently passed her Pony club E test which is a fantastic achievement. It was a close call though as she thought she was going in for a practice test, but it turned out to be the real thing!

Her other hobbies include dancing, singing, bodyboarding, science experiments, arts and crafts and playing games with her friends and family. She recently discovered bodyboarding whilst on holiday in Cornwall and took to it like a natural.

As a future career Rosie would like to be an author. She loves writing fictional stories, but also extends her talents to writing letters, one of which has included a letter to her local MP.

Rosie overheard her parents talking about the devastation caused by the fires in Brazil’s Amazon Rainforest and wanted to do something to help. “Also people were cutting down trees”. She decided to write a letter to her local MP outlining the reasons as to why planting more trees would be beneficial to the planet.

If you feel inspired to do the same as Rosie, you can use the template below to write your own letter to your local MP (if you live in the UK) about the importance of planting more trees. Download the template and fill in your details. Remember we also have a letter template to help protect the Cryosphere in our 'Cryosphere Funbook’.

Rosie loves to read and her favourite books include the 'My Little Pony’ book series and Dino Dana: Dino Field Guide. “Did you know we drink the same water as the dinosaurs!?” Inspired by her love of 'My Little Pony' and being incredibly arty, she made this brilliant 3D game where players take it in turns to roll the dice and reach Twilight Sparkle's Castle. But be careful not to get a Discord's Havoc which takes you over the lightning bolt and back to the beginning!

As a Junior Ambassador, Rosie has been involved in a number of projects including promoting Crowdfunding for the ‘Funbooks' and a number of promotional videos. In the future she would like to help other children with their letter writing and is also interested in making “lots and lots of posters!” to help the environment.

Her message

Her last message to everyone is:

“Only leave your footsteps when you go to the beach!"
