CASE STUDY – Science Festival
Queen Mary University
Festival of Communities
Queen Mary University London has selected MAINTENANT Sustaining Now to promote sustainable development through scientific exploration and experiments at their Festival of Communities.
We have been very busy talking about the Solar System with children and their families emphasising the importance of a balanced atmosphere. We showed extracts from our Hydrosphere Curriculum allowing for a discussion on water scarcity and usage.
On our Cryosphere table, visitors learned about the distribution of polar animals. We organized a very energetic hands-on experiment about polar ice for children to compare the rate of ice melting between the Arctic the Antarctic regions.
Over the two days, we played STEM games with children as young as 4 years old. Some adults joined us and enjoyed discovering our new SNAP cards and reading 7 SPHERES our mini encyclopedia of the Earth Science System.
All children were given activity handbooks they completed with their families and/or with our team. They were then awarded a Certificate which proved very successful with all the participants.
